The La Boca area is near the port. In the old days (so the story goes) the left-over boat paint was used by the locals to paint their houses. The tradition of a bright patchwork paint job continues today (though perhaps not using paint specifically designed for boats).
I decided to send off a postcard. It took 20 days to reach Dad in Adelaide.
