Iguazu Falls - Brazil

Although Hotel Das Cataras is less than a km from the Sheraton Hotel, to get to Das Cataras we had to go through the usual immigration procedures. In addition, Australian Immigration authorities require anyone spending time in Brazil to have a Yellow Fever vaccination.

So, for our one day look at Iguazu Falls from the Brazilian side we copped a fair bit of officialdom (on the day) and a jab (before leaving Oz).

Here's another overhead view of Iguazu (a satellite image from Google) that shows the Sheraton on the upper left (near the river), the falls in the middle and Das Cataras on the right. The white line is the [approximate] position of the Brazil / Argentine border.

I've posted some shots of the hotel and the falls.

Das Cataras is in the charming Spanish Colonial style, with modern touches throughout.

If you haven't noticed it until now, the water in the river is very muddy. This is because the water flows into the Rio Iguazu are 50% higher than normal, stirring up and carrying silt.

(The red arrow points to a waterfall comparable in size to the largest in South Australia.)
